Count the rooms, steps, furniture and rugs; tile, wood and hand-washed rugs go by the square foot in the drawer. Each line shows Maid VIP’s estimate where its published wording names the item.
Every rate and its source
Typical national cost range, not a quote: national figures, except the wood-floor rate, which is Homewyse’s starting estimate, and the Thousand Oaks line, which is Homeyou’s local figure.
Figures re-read on their pages on October 12, 2026. HomeAdvisor adds that rug cleaning costs 25% to 40% more in areas with a high cost of living.

How the builder adds it up
Rooms or square feet set the carpet price and steps set the stairs. Tile and grout, deodorizing, wood floors and hand-washed rugs go by the square foot, rugs by their size, and sofas and dining chairs by the piece. For each line the builder takes your count times the low published rate and times the high one, then adds the lines together.
Stain removal counts once, as a single $40–$300 charge by severity, because Angi’s figure has no unit. Some companies add a minimum to a small job: Angi’s $75–$125 minimum service fee for carpet, and HomeAdvisor’s $100–$200 call-out minimum for tile. A small carpet or tile total is widened to allow for it, once. A count past the builder’s limits takes the visit off the published rates, and the call sets the price.
The builder leaves out anything that can only be judged in person, such as moving furniture or adding a protector. Where Maid VIP’s published wording names an item, its estimate appears beside the national figure; everything else is priced on the call. What carpet cleaning costs in Thousand Oaks works through three local homes, and about this site explains where every figure comes from.
